Journey of Truth

Have you ever been in a situation where you find yourself desperately wanting to encourage a friend, but at a loss to know how to do so? I have two people, dear to my heart, that are in place of deep spiritual and emotional struggle. I have prayed for them and encouraged them to turn to Jesus for His truth and to be bathed in His love. But I know, from having spent time in difficult places, that doing so is a moment-by-moment challenge.

There is nothing more frustrating than knowing these gals are hurting, but not being able to see them each and every day to hold their hand and give them a hug. So, in place of my physical presence, I want to send them the truth of God combined with an a challenge to keep their attitude in check. I see it as a way of grabbing their hand and placing it back in Jesus'. This idea is rooted in my personal experience, that if I can get my beliefs right, acting out on that truth, that my emotions will be more likely to follow suit. It is an attitude adjustment that precedes the change of feelings. We all know that when emotions dictate our actions, life can be unbearable.

I have an inkling that many of us need this type of belief and attitude adjustment. We all can use a daily does of God's word and challenge to keep our attitude in check. This is why I am going to use Extravagant Grace as the home-base for a Journey of Truth, which is based on a talk I gave to a group of teenage girls last year. It is too long, and a bit too personal, to post here, but it's message is essentially this:
How do you uncover God’s truth in the midst of a world in chaos, in your own life that spinning and spinning beyond your control? As you seek the truth from God, through His word, it will set you free to live life without regret or guilt. You will be free to love, to laugh, and to enjoy life, more than ever before.

How do you do this? One step at a time, as you look at your belief system, line it up with God's truth, walk through a process of confession, accept God's amazing grace and forgiveness, and live a life set free in Christ...one moment at a time.
As often as possible, I am going to put up one verse or Scripture passage and one attitude adjustment challenge with the hope and prayer that my dear friends will feel the extension of my hand putting their's into Jesus', while the rest of us will also be encouraged to consider our own beliefs and attitudes on a daily basis.

I pray you will join me in this Journey of Truth as we explore God's extravagant grace!
