A thru Z: Writing thru Life with New Perspective

A is for apple. Be is for boy. C is for Cookie. Don’t you just love cookies! My favorite used to be the chocolate-in-the-middle kind made by Stella Dora. I’d crunch the sugar cookie part around the outside before sinking my teeth into the gooey yet hard chocolate middle. But these days, I’m not interested in the ordinary, predictable chocolate-in-the-middle cookie. No, I’d much prefer a home made, maybe even whole wheat and sugar free, thick and densely filled chocolate chip cookie with a hint of peanut butter, a surprise of coconut and maybe even a nut or two.

Just as my cookie preference has slowly involved into something unexpected, so has my approach to life. While I love being snuggly nested into my own home, surrounded by my family and enmeshed into my routine, I don’t want things to be so predictable that God’s blessings are overlooked. I have this huge desire to be keenly aware of everyone’s differences and the unique, colorful, unexpected joys of life available to each one of us.

And so, I’ve decided that A isn’t always for Apple. B isn’t always for Boy. And C might just not be for Cookie. Maybe A is for Attitude. B is for Butterflies. And C is for CSI. Depending on the life lessons the Lord is striving to teach each, what we understand, realize, and appreciate may change and become more meaningful and powerful in our understanding of who we are and who God is.

A thru Z is going to be my grand experiment of recording the new things God is teaching me—those unexpected truths, possibly a few deep thoughts, and maybe some light-hearted, won’t-mean-a-thing-in-a-year moments where I see a different side of myself, appreciate something new about a loved one, take notice of the previously insignificant, or even glimpse another side of my Holy God. As I move through each letter of the alphabet, I’ll record what each letter stands for from this new perspective with the hopes of leaving a legacy of lessons.

Maybe you’ll decide to join me in this unpredictable, time-frame-less writing adventure and we can learn together about what it means to look at life A thru Z. If you do, grab the graphic and code, and leave a comment noting the url of your blog post or sign in Mister Linky, so that we all can see what God is teaching you in your writing A thru Z adventure. I'll be leaving links to my A thru Z posts with Mister Linky, too. Just click the words to find them...
