Thankful Thursday

The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock!
May the God of my salvation be exalted!

This week, I am thankful to the Lord for many things...

1. I am thankful for my husband and his commitment as a father. This morning the girls were just off and bickering. It was more than I wanted to deal with and he stepped in to resolve the conflict. In doing so, I was struck by how he is modeling our Heavenly Father's love for our children, and teaching me so much about it along the way.

For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God's discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness.
Hebrews 12:10

2. The earthly daddy issue is tender on my heart this week. I am in the throws of reading a book by H. Norman Right, "A Dad-Shaped Hole in My Heart." I am thankful to the Lord that He is using this book to walk me through an emotionally-charged journey of looking realistically at the relationship with my dad and the impact it has had on my life. The purpose is to heal whatever hole may be there and learn how to have a healthier relationship with my dad from this point on. It is a good, good book. But it is all a hard to process at times. Please pray for me as I press on to finish it.

....And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

3. On a lighter note, I was so tickled to read this post by Bonita Lillie at her blog! The Lord has impressed upon me this summer what it means to love and respect our husbands (I'll be writing about that soon!), so I love the idea of wearing an "I love my husband" t-shirt. I ended up a Zazzle.com and made my own, which includes an extra ditty on the back! The coolest part was seeing the grin on my husband's face when I showed him the shirt. I can't wait until it arrives and I can wear it! I am truly thankful to the Lord for His creativity and the opportunities He provides for us to express ourselves, all for His glory!

And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And further, submit to one another out of reverence to Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

4. I am so thankful to the Lord for giving me the honor of being Christian Women Online's Blog of the Month, especially because of all the amazing women that have been stopping by Extravagant Grace and sharing themselves with me! I've been blessed to be introduced to them and their wonderfully rich blogs, too!
