Live Well Wednesday accountability is really all about grace and humility. It is the time of the week we can stop, reflect, accept, remind, forgive, celebrate, and press on. Some weeks, we'll have reached monumental goals. Other weeks, it will just be a reporting in, to keep us from slipping back into the old habits.
As I press on to live intentionally in 2008, I know that it is time to shift my attitude from impulsive self-gratification to determined self-control. Hmm. It is hard. But it is worth it. As Darlene wrote about, it is the ability to eat in moderation. Now that is a concept we can apply to so many areas of our lives. I think this week, I'll focus on intentionally on moderation--in regards to food and every other aspect of my material life--asking the questions:
- Do I really need this?
- What would happen if I do with out it?
- Can I wait?
- Can I say no?
- Can I have half?
- What will be the rewards/consequences of my decision?
It's never too late to begin living intentionally!

Very good post! Here's hoping this week will be a great one for you. Can't wait to see what we all have to report next Wednesday. Everyone seems so positive!

May you meet all your goals sweet one.
Right on - moderation is key. I lost weight once by choosing to leave some part of my food at every meal time and eat it later - it was all about stopping just before I felt full. It's amazing how your body adjusts!
I'll be looking forward to seeing how you do!!
I loved the way you put this, "determined self-control." It's a daily struggle to be self-disciplined in every thing we do, but it always comes with reward, which is a great (yet undeserved) perk to our obedience in Christ.
Self-discipline is SO hard!!! At least it's something I've struggled with for years already. Mostly in the eating area, but some other areas of my life -- hence the need for some attitude and routine changes this new year!!
Wow! Moderation in all things . . . EXCEPT GOD! That's great! I'm going to use it on our website! You'll get a shout-out, of course! You may enjoy visiting www.flylady.net. She helps us get our homes, and therefore our lives, in order by giving us new monthly habits and daily routines. Flylady is one of my heroes! Here is one of the most useful quotes I've ever seen from Flylady: We are prosperous in direct proportion to what we can do without. ...Hmmm! Less stuff, more God!
Love You!

Those questions are great. The one about "Can I have half?" really caught my eye. I tend to be an all or nothing girl and it never occurred to me that having half of something might be an option. Thanks!
Thanks for so much encouragement! I am on board to the best of my ability at this time.
My goal is moderation not just in eating but in all areas of my life...Even with my Christmas shopping and into the New Year in many areas.
God Bless!
