Best Mom Ever, Really

The Best Mom Ever Award

Last night, I found out that I am the Best Mom Ever, after receiving just such an award from my smiley 8 year old daughter.

"Oh, really!" I declared. "And for what reason have I received such an award?"

"Well, Mom," she pronounced, "when I was watching the twins upstairs, I had to go to the bathroom. You know, to do you know what. So, I told the twins I'd be back soon, went into the bathroom and closed the door. First, Little Miss came barging in, wanting me to to put on her lady bug costume, and then Little Mister came right behind her wanting me to put on his knight costume. I helped them, all the while sitting on the toilet trying to finish my business. Finally, I shooed them out, and asked Little Miss to close the door behind her. She wanted to know why, of course. I told her I had to finish, in privacy, and then Little Mister began talking about my business, so excited that I, too, was making a log on the potty."

Let me explain, in case you've missed a detail. Our twins call the number two a log, ever since they saw their first ones in the potty -- it isn't a family thing, just their thing that makes us laugh and laugh.

I tried to not chuckle too obviously while listening to this dramatic interpretation about the absence of bathroom privacy. My daughter continued, "So I decided you've won the Best Mother Ever Award and made this certificate for you, because you've been doing this with all four of us since I was little."

I must admit, this is the best award for the best reason ever. What mother doesn't want her children to see and experience life from her perspective, even for just a moment? I'm appreciated! Yippee! And I hope this means I'll get a little more bathroom privacy of my own, possibly with an 8 year old bouncer at the door.

How sweet!
My 2yo has been pretending her older brother (one of them, at least) and sister are her mom and dad. I don't mind, really. Gives me a little free time. Lol.
