Today happens to be Thankful Thursday and Iris at Sting My Heart continues to be a faithful steward of this outrageously growing meme! If you want to be blessed, inspired, and encouraged, head over to her blog to read all those dozens and dozens of posts and especially her thoughts of thankfulness for today.
Today, I am thankful for so many things, but one verse sticks out in my mind, which captures all that is going on in my life:
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. 'As the heaves are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'" Isaiah 55:8-9These are just some of the things that I am thankful that God thought differently about...
I thought I'd only have two children
...His way gave me four.
I thought I'd be a big-time professional
...His way provided for me to be a mom at home.
I thought I'd have to live in a big house with a picket fence in order to be happy
...His way has proven that by His love, grace, and salvation comes my happiness.
I thought I'd need a better place to call home
...He has shown me that this house is a home that is blessed.
I thought I'd never be able to be a mom that doesn't yell
...He has healed my soul and brought peace to our family, calmness to my voice.
I thought I'd be busy writing a book now
...He way has me writing and designing for blogs, and composing talks for teenage girls instead.
I thought I knew what love was
...He is showing me all that love is.
Thank you, Lord, that your ways are not my ways!

I really love your posts Elisa. They serve as a constant inspiration and I'm so ready for 8 for 2008 though I'm having to redo my scriptures for memorization since the Lord is laying it hard on my heart, scripture HE has felt it's more important for me to learn right now.
I love how you've shown that HIS WAY is ALWAYS BEST. There are so many things that happen in this world that don't make sense to us.. but we can always find comfort in KNOWING that HIS WAYS are not our ways. You've pulled this message together BEAUTIFULLY!
Now, I'm off to check out 8 un 08.
LOVE YOU!
Such a lovely thankful list, bless you my friend.
You are so right, Elisa - although His ways might not be our 'inital way', but soon we realize that His ways are much better than our own path of life :) I love how you have broken down/spelled it out for us.
Yeah - this time I will not forget about 8 in 2008 (sorry about last month). I have it marked on my desktop calendar. I am looking forward to read the up-dates and will share my own :)
Thank you so much for sharing your grateful and joyous heart with us this week.
Be blessed today and always.
Thanks for sharing all the ways God has blessed and directed your life.
I love the colors of your blog and the flowers on top.
God bless your day!
Elisa:
What a beautiful tribute to God's love for us and how much better he knows us than we know ourselves. Thank you for sharing with us what He shares with you and for always being honest. Angela
What a wonderful way to share what you are thankful for, I really liked your post!
that is a great list... and makes methink how greatful i am as well!
Elisa, you and I must think a lot alike. As I read through your thoughts versus God's ways, I could identify with so much that was written there. I especially appreciate the verse you shared. It, along with your post, echoes a theme that the Lord seems to want me to understand lately: That the way I think isn't always the right way!
You've been nominated Elisa:

Elisa, I love how you took what you thought you wanted and shared the way God's way has instead blessed your life. This is great!
What a wonderful TT list! Thanks for showing me how we may think one way, but God's way is always the best!
