If prayer, most simply put, is our conversation with God, then we would expect it would be multidimensional. These Scriptures offer a bigger picture of things that may go along hand-in-hand with prayer.
What are other components or companions to prayer?
- Acts 16:25 ~ About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
- Ezra 10:1 ~ [The People's Confession of Sin ] While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping
- Romans 8:26 ~ In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
- Mark 11:24 ! Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (note: This verse is often misquoted in a prosperity sense. Please do not be deluded into thinking that God is Santa Clause. What we ask for needs to be inline with Biblical truth and an understanding of God’s Sovereignty. Look at the Our Father for an example.)
- 1 Corinthians 7:5 ~ Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
- Luke 5:33 ~ John's disciples often fast and pray,
- 1 Timothy 2:8 ~ I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer
