This is suppose to be a year of simple but intentional living, focusing on the basics of life as I continue to grow in my relationship with the Lord. As this January has rolled along, I feel God challenging me to share with you some of those areas of focus. I've already shared 24 Verses, and Saving to Give. I thought that would be all, but there are two more areas that He is prompting me to be public with so that I would stay accountable while encouraging others.
Psalm 54:2
Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
Prayer on the 9's in 2009 is one of those two things. It is simply this: A commitment to pray on the 9th, 19th, and 29th of each month for the people the Lord has brought into our lives or placed on our hearts. On the 9th, my focus is on my immediate and extended family. On the 19th, I lift up my church and small group. On the 29th, I pray for my community and the ministries I am involved in, as well as our government and leaders. I've set aside a journal, listing the names of all these people, and as my visual reminder to intercede on their behalf. If I miss the date (which happens!), I'll do it as soon as possible.
God calls us to prayer. He wants to hear our thoughts and surrender our desires to His will. Prayer changes us, but it also moves God, too. Will you join me in this commitment to Prayer on the 9's in 2009? If so, feel free to grab the button and leave a comment below. And then get on your knees, or on your face, or with your hands raised, and speak to the Lord on behalf of His people!
