My children are quietly resting nearby, two of the four ill with the stomach bug. It has been running through the house this week, and last night returned with full force. My plans have been thwarted once again. I could be reasonably irritated. I could crank and complain. But instead, life is providing an opportunity to experience the Scriptures that have been before me for the past week in a new light:
1 Peter 5
6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
Yes, I could be easily devoured in my thoughts and selfishness, which is why I am so THANKFUL today for God's Word and gentle instruction. I know that to provide tender care to my children today, and to have the aroma of Christ fill my home, I need to follow the instructions in this passage from Peter and...
- Humble myself before the Lord, knowing that He is in charge of all things.
- Cast my anxiety on Him, as I adjust to the change in plans.
- Trust God, because He cares for me.
- Stand firm in the faith.
And then I can rest in the promise that He has good things in store for me.
Thank you, Jesus, for your grace, mercy, and absolute generosity in all areas of life. Equip and enable me today to love your children. I pray, too, for your healing touch to bring them to wellness...in their bodies and in their souls forevermore.

I agree with you in your prayer for more grace to handle the needs of the day ... and for the restoration of your children's health. You are a wise woman to lean on the God of Scripture, rather than your emotions.
I'm using the scripture that you have shared here to put up a post on my blog right now.
