Actually, I'm a 5 Whatever Gal!

What's the difference between being a 5:16 club member and a 5 whatever gal? It is just a bit of difference...

For those of you following my journey, you know that I became a 5:16 club member, thanks to the leading of the Lord and inspiration of Sarah Mae and the Girl Talk gals, when I started setting my alarm for 5:16 am. Why? So that I could fight the "I'm just so overwhelmed" syndrome with being filled up by the Lord before filling the needs of everyone else. Getting an early start on the day enables me to spend quality time with the Lord first, and has changed my life in a very short time. Where there was anxiety, there is now peace.

Rarely, however, have I found myself rolling out of bed on the first buzz. It is more like 5:20, 5:45, and even 6:30 or later, on much needed occasions. I found myself saying to my family or friends, "I get up around 5 whatever...", which is how this slogan was born.

Calling myself a 5 whatever gal puts a smile on my face, reminding me that both discipline and grace go hand in hand. I pursue the early dawn hours with a committed heart, but sometimes the result is a bit more delayed. That always reminds me of God's extravagant grace. He pours out His love on us, making up the difference for what we lack and keeping us going through His provisions. We seek Him, but He is the one that finds us!

Simply for the joy of it, I'm now calling myself a 5 whatever gal, meaning that while my goal may be to rise at 5:16 am, the reality is more like 5 whatever...and that is good enough for me! Hopefully, you will be inspired to be 5:16 club member and a 5 whatever gal, too. Membership in both carries equal blessing! If you'd like to learn more about how this all works, you can begin with my first post here and follow along each day by clicking on the links on the sidebar under 5:16 Club.

As my quirky style, I had to make a button to go along as well as some fun products on Zazzle -- check them out in my gallery below!! Sharing my experience with friends has been such an encouragement to them, that maybe a slogan-covered shirt will spur on even more gals to get with Jesus first, making the most of every opportunity before the dawning of the day.

Proverbs 31:15 The Message

She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.

Ephesians 5:16

...making the most of every opportunity...

Psalm 110:147

I rise before the dawn and cry out for help;
I have put my hope in your Word.

I absolutely love your new button! Ha. Too cute! And I never did know what you were talking about when I saw 5:16 -- I didn't connect that with your posts about trying to roll out of bed. lol Duh ... I don't know how I missed that.

What a great idea! I may have to come back, grab your button, and link with you Sister!

Love,
