Mom, I Dare You! - Challenge 9

Extravagant Grace

Happy Mother's Day!

We're rolling along in the Mom, I Dare You challenge. I hope you are feeling the full blessing today for investing in one of the greatest callings on your life. Today, we conclude the BEST acronym with the letter "T" for touch. Now won't that be easy! All you need to do today is reach out and touch your children. Caress their baby smooth cheeks, interlock your fingers between theirs as you walk through the house, hug the neck of your teenage son, even if he pulls away.

But don't stop there. Yes, physical touch is so important, but that isn't the only way we can touch another's life. As daughters of the King, we have the privilege of touching souls. Whisper Scriptures in your children's ears. Send an email with a simple prayer of thanksgiving to your child far away or your spiritual son or daughter. How about sending a text message to your rebellious teen that simply says, I LUV U?

On this Mother's Day, all of us are also also spiritual mothers, because of our love for Jesus. We are therefore commissioned to reach out to a world around us and touch all those that need His love. We are His hands -- to the brokenhearted, to the lonely, to the oppressed, to the perfectionist, to the store clerk, and the business man. To the gas station attendant, to the orphan, and the widow. To our own mothers, and fathers, and sisters, and brothers. We can touch others physically and spiritual, through our hand and through our prayers.

Yes, there is no greater calling than to breathe Christ's love story into the lives of others. Touch every one you meet, see, or think of today like it is your last day on earth, and know that you are doing the work of the Father, all for His glory.

Because of Him,

Thank you for the reminder, Lisa. It can be a temptation not to touch, especially as our children get older and give us that "I don't want to be touched" face, but it's so important. Great encouragement!
