Welcome to another week of accountability! Whether this is your first time at Pursuing Wellness, or if you have been here before, I am glad to have you. There have been lots of questions in how to participate, so let me give a quick review. First, let me mention that I am using the First Place 4 Health's, Begin With Christ book as our study. That is where the questions are coming from, as well as the title for each week, but you can participate regardless by using this for wellness accountability. Essentially, you have three options:
- If you are starting today, go to this post - Introduction.
- If you started last week, June 12th, continue with the next post - Week 1 or if you got ahead in the book, Week 2
- If you are picking up from the original start date, then you will be moving along with me and should be up to Week 8, which is contained below in this post.
Answer these questions in a comment below or in a post at your blog. (I will do the same, so that I am an active participant!) Be sure to leave a link!Remember, this is simply an effort of sisters-in-Christ encouraging one another to be physically and spiritually healthy for the glory of God. I am grateful for your partnership and look forward to sharing the journey ahead!Don't forget to leave a comment below with your link or email address, so that we can send you a note of encouragement.*
- Share one wellness success and failure from the week.
- Share one wellness goal for the upcoming week.
- Share one significant point learned from completing the Begin With Christ homework. (click here to order the book from Amazon ) If you'd like, you can share your thoughts based on these points raised:
• Which translation of Romans 12:2 spoke the most to you and why?
• What diet or exercise plans have you tried in the past? Why didn't they work long term?
• How does the world drag you down? How does God bring out the best in you?- Share your weight loss, if you so choose.
- Share one way others can specifically pray for you in your pursuit of wellness.
Only because of Him,

Share with others...

Here are my confessions and praises!
1. wellness success -- I got moving, both in using the Couch to 5K plan and walking the dog every day. failure from the week -- to many sweets, although I turned a few down, I indulged in others when no on was looking.
2. one wellness goal -- continue Couch to 5K to the best of my ability!
3. Share from the homework...
• The message translation of Romans 12:2had a huge impact on me, even though I've studied it before. I clung to the transformed from the inside out concept. I also clung to the growth and time it takes for a mustard see to bloom into the largest plant. That gave me confidence that change is happening in me, too.
• What diet or exercise plans have you tried in the past? Why didn't they work long term?
• All the healthy ones, but they never included the spirit and mind, just behavior and their effects never lasted.
4. weight loss = 2 pounds, as of 2 days ago
5. prayer requests = turn from indulgent and emotional eating!
Thanks!
Be blessed, not stressed sweet friend.
Hey Lisa, congratulations on the 2 pound weight loss! Woohoo!
1. Share one wellness success and failure from the week.
Success: I made much better food choices this week.
Failure: I did not work out even one time! How bad is that?! I moved recently and am without a gym at the moment. I’ve found that I really don’t like working out when it’s hot outside.
2. Share one wellness goal for the upcoming week.
I’d like to get the whole eating healthy AND working out thing going together at the same time again. ;)
3. Share one significant point learned from completing the Begin With Christ homework.
I really liked The Message version of the verse this week. I especially liked the part that said, “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.” It’s interesting that this verse would be shared this week because I am preparing to go on a road trip… that begins with one side of my family and then continues on by myself. The side of the family I will be spending time with is very far from living a Christian lifestyle, let alone an even remotely moral lifestyle. I often feel when I am around them like how did I end up where I am even though we share the same DNA? I just don’t fit in! It often makes me feel sad, but this verse brought me encouragement that I don’t need to fit in. To “fit in” would, in essence, mean that I prioritize familial heritage more than my heritage as a child of God. That was really an “Aha!” moment for me.
4. Share your weight loss, if you so choose.
1 pound for a total of 22 pounds since January.
5. Share one way others can specifically pray for you in your pursuit of wellness.
Again, I feel silly asking for prayer this week when I am posting after the fact.
