Hello again! How are you doing in your Pursuing Wellness journey?
I have to admit, I'm glad mine is coming to an end so that I can launch into the future with what I've learned. I'm realizing as I approach the last two chapters of the First Place 4 Health's, Begin With Christ study, that Pursuing Wellness is a life-long commitment. I will have to continue to build on and implement what I've learned. That will definitely be a challenge!
I can also see how this program is entirely different from every other health or diet planned I've used. With the foundational points built around Scripture, it will be impossible to forget what I have learned. Each time I come across one of those significant memory verses, I will certainly be challenged to be live for Christ in my mind, soul, and especially body.
As a quick reminder, anyone can participate in Pursuing Wellness, beginning at any time, using the First Place 4 Health's, Begin With Christ book as a study guide and simply dropping by here to answer the accountability questions each week. Essentially, you have three options:
- If you are starting today, go to this post - Introduction.
- If you started on June 12th, continue with the next week listed on the sidebar, according to how many weeks you have already completed. Work your way through and leave a comment / link at that particular post.
- If you are picking up from the original start date, then you will be moving along with me and should be up to Week 1o in the book. Our questions are contained below in this post.
Answer these questions in a comment below or in a post at your blog. (I will do the same, so that I am an active participant!) Be sure to leave a link!Remember, this is simply an effort of sisters-in-Christ encouraging one another to be physically and spiritually healthy for the glory of God. I am grateful for your partnership and look forward to sharing the journey ahead!Don't forget to leave a comment below with your link or email address, so that we can send you a note of encouragement.*

I'm still working on things, even if I failed to do my Bible study work this week. :-?
Here's the link to my check in post for week 4... MizB's Week 4 Check In.
Thanks, again, for hosting this, eLisa! ;)
Asking God to bless you abundantly.
Here's my confession (*grin*):
1. wellness success -- ran or walked every day; failure -- still indulging in carbs.
2. Share one wellness goal -- resist indulging.
3. Share one significant point learned from completing the Begin With Christ homework:
* Until this week, what has been your definition of commitment? To not walk away, not give up.
* How does that line up with God's perspective? I think it is similar.
* How does having an accountability partner in this journey help you remain committed? I don't have one per se, apart from doing this online. It keeps me focused.
* What is your commitment to the Pursuing Wellness journey? It is probably not as strong as it should be. I feel like I'm still finding the balance between stewardship of my body and vanity -- in the sense of trying to conform to the culture. I sense this journey is more about God working on my heart than anything else!
4. Share your weight loss -- haven't checked!
5. Share one way others can specifically pray for you -- to finish strong!
1. Share one wellness success and failure from the week.
Success: I joined a gym here in town for a really great deal. I also ran 2 miles on three different days this week. I have also committed myself to running a 5K for charity that my church is hosting in September, which will be the first I’ve ever done!
Failure: I didn’t really “feel” like doing any of my assignments this week. I did them out of commitment, but lacked emotions towards it.
2. Share one wellness goal for the upcoming week.
I would like to resist the tendency to indulge myself in unnecessary treats just because others are doing it around me. That’s hard for me, especially within a social setting.
3. Share one significant point learned from completing the Begin With Christ homework.
Regarding commitment, I think my views on it are drawn directly from what God says commitment is. I think that my viewpoint on what it means to truly be committed to something is biblical… Now, whether I “measure up” is a totally different story!
Regarding accountability, I would say that completing these assignments and posting them online has helped me stay focused on this bible study. I might have given up on it awhile ago or “gotten bored” and abandoned it.
Regarding opposition, I have encountered much, especially in recent months. I hope to continue my commitment to pursuing wellness after this Bible study is completed. I have been able to lose weight before, but KEEPING IT OFF is another story. So, I am less impressed with the weight I have lost than I would be if it was still off a year from now. Does that make sense?
4. Share your weight loss, if you so choose.
I lost 2 more pounds for a total of 22 since January.
5. Share one way others can specifically pray for you in your pursuit of wellness.
Please pray for my “thought life”. I have been struggling immensely in this area lately.
