Becoming Titus 2 in 2010

Photobucket

Titus 2:3-5 NIV

3Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
In my mission to live intentionally in 2010, I deeply sense the Lord calling me to become a Titus 2 gal in action, as opposed to only in theory. But I know that in order to do so, I must investigate the Scriptures, evaluate my own beliefs, and seek the counsel of women who have been living the Titus 2 life.

It is no longer satisfactory to only hope to become what God wants of me. I need to invest the time learning what that means to live out the Word, and seek ways to put it into practice. Therefore, I am going to spend an entire year meditating on verses 3-5 in Titus 2, looking at a small portion each month and asking the Lord to open my eyes to see His truth as it is relevant to my life in 2010.

I pray you will join me in this open discussion and transparent time of reflection, that we would grow together in the Word as we become Titus 2 women.

The topic to be consider on the 2nd Tuesday of each month will be as follows:
  1. Jan ~ Beliefs about Titus 2 in Today's Culture
  2. Feb ~ What does it mean to be reverent?
  3. Mar ~ What does it mean to be slanderers and addicted (to too much wine)?
  4. Apr ~ How do we teach what is good?
  5. May ~ How do we train the younger women? Who are the younger women?
  6. Jun ~ How do we train the younger women to love their husbands?
  7. Jul ~ How do we train the younger women to love their children?
  8. Aug ~ How do we learn to be self-controlled and pure?
  9. Sep ~ What does it mean to be busy at home?
  10. Oct ~ What does it mean to be kind?
  11. Nov ~ What does it mean to be subject to our husband?
  12. Dec ~ How does becoming a Titus 2 woman cause the Word of God to not be maligned?
I will plan to post a reminder the week prior. I invite you to write a post sharing your thoughts and Biblical response, as will do the same. I'll host a McLinky for us to join together! Feel free to join in anytime!

May we grow together, intentionally this year!

Count me in on this one! I am so ready to live this out in action and not just theory! Thank you! It is TIME - I am a mom and now Gran Jan, and I desire to share all that God is teaching me and has taught me on my road to being a Titus 2-er. I am teaching a "Mom to Mom" class beginning this Sunday evening at my church, so I'm on my way!

Interstingly, I just wrote down last week in my journal that my desire for 2010 is to consciously practice the traits seen in Titus 2.

I just ran into this through a friends blog. I have been wanting to start something like this for a while now. You have really hit this on the nail for me. If you don't mind I would like to take it and start a small group with it. I live in Kuwait and have seen a need for this kind of work and fellowship. Please let me know if I can use your questions to start this here. Thank You and God Bless

First Lisa, I'd like to say that God has blessed you with such great artistic talent!! Such a great blessing to enhance and embrace the beauty that is sometimes hard to find in this world.

Second, I stumbled upon this site while searching for the meaning of "so that no one will malign the word of God"... it confused me and I dug a little deeper and here I land. I think it is amazing what you are doing and I would love to come on board! I know it is a little late for the "New Year" part but I would love to become a part of this. I started blogging as one of my New Year resolutions but I haven't told anybody about it so alas, no one is reading my blog.

Hi Lisa,
I found you through 3 little sparrows and the titus 2 button. I was interested because I have been teaching on titus 2. I use a book called The Titus 2 Woman put out by Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas. They have an international ministry and share the teaching all over the world. They came to Bolivia first in 2001 and shared their study with us. It is a great resource that I have used over and over in our church association. I am a missionary in Bolivia. Thanks for your posts. laurie
