Top 10 Ways to Survive the Flu

  1. Have it line up over Christmas Break, as visiting family can do all the cooking, chore-keeping, and kid-caring.
  2. Be married to a teacher, who has two weeks off to serve your every whiny need.
  3. Powerade Zero - Grape! The only drink that doesn't taste like cough medicine.
  4. Mucinex every 4 hours (with Tylenol or Motrin, on a rotating schedule, until the fever breaks, which took 8 days for me!).
  5. Layers of clothing, including fuzzy warm socks.
  6. Layers of blankets, especially a snuggie.
  7. Cough drops and peppermints and butterscotches.
  8. Three pillows, minimum, for propping in bed to battle the cough.
  9. A laptop! Great for surfing, listening to sermons, and passing the time!
  10. A perfectly timed Christmas gift of a new graphics program to occupy the non-fever, still fatigued and cough-filled days of recovery. See, Christmas is really the perfect time to get the flu.

I pray you survive the flu by never getting it. Wash those hands. Avoid stress. Change you life to get good sleep. Practice saying, "No." This has been a wake up call for me. Things will be changing, as soon as I am strong enough to get out of bed and get back to life.

By His Grace, more than ever,

I'm so sorry that you had the flu, especially over Christmas, but it does sound as though having the extra help was a blessing. I hope you're back to normal soon and glad to hear you have positive change in the plan.
