Whatever. Whatever. Whatever.
I've learned whatever ought not be a common place attitude in my heart, but rather a cue to consider whatever God says is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy.
God's whatever truths are not license to stick my head in the sand, avoiding the pain of trials or conviction of sin in my life and in the lives of those I love. We can't just rub the wound with platitudes, which is such a common place practice in the Christian's response to pain. Rather, whatever is God's loving instruction for how to proceed by His grace and strength as we face grief-filled moments, unexpected disappointments, hurt feelings, and the effect of sin.
Whatever is the "how to" of applying 2 Corinthians 10:5 call to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ. Instead of sliding down the slippery slope of despair, excuses, and blame, we reach out for God's strong arm to rescue us from the pit as we focus on His whatever truth about who He is and whose we are!
"Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am."Philippians 4:10-14 The Message
Imagine if we lived more in the whatever of God and less in our whatever.
Feel free to grab this Scripture to post on your blog. I've even offered one to print out for yourself and use a bookmark, as well the bottom one to printout for a 4 x 6 frame, if you so choose. Be blessed by the Word and live by it, my friends.

Such a timely verse for me. My verse for this year is Philippians 4:6-7 as I am learning to trust and obey Him every step of the way. However, I believe this is such an important next step. As I pray with thanksgiving and leave it ALL in my Lord's hands, He provides me with His peace.
And then as I have His peace, I can make the heart choice to dwell on thoughts of whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. When I do this, I'm less tempted to fall back into taking it all back and worrying again.
Your graphics are awesome eLisa! How very generous of you to share them with us to use.
Love,
Debbie
Shared this today on my blog. I can't wait to get some cardstock & print out the other two graphics. So beautiful!
Thanks so much for this & all that you do =)
Puts a whole different spin on "Whatever!", doesn't it!!! : )
These weeks I'm meditating more on Psalm 119... especially the (many!) verses of it that I made into a song. While it's easier to memorize that way, I don't want to sing it without really thinking about what I'm singing. So that's where I am! : )
I love this post. Thanks for the graphics.
Did the printable images get removed from photobucket? The link just takes me to the photobucket main page.
The links to the printables are fixed! Thanks for the heads up!
