I was so thrilled when I saw Gigi's Big Break was up for review on Book Sneeze, as I was still chuckling after reading Gigi, God's Little Princess
with my four year old daughter the night before. In that particular adventure, Gigi is convinced she is a princess and is awaiting the day she would finally receive her crown jewels. The story line carries us through Gigi's very literal thinking about royalty, while her innocent mom and dad respond figuratively to each question regarding her princess status.
It is an endearing story, perfect for teaching a little one's heart. My little miss was equally
curious about receiving her royal benefits. At the end of the story, she asked, "Mom, when will I get my jewels?" She missed the entire point, but was so enthralled with Gigi's saga, that we were able to have a wonderfully innocent conversation about the treasures we receive as God's princess.
The DVD, Gigi's Big Break, is equally precious and full of wonderful lessons to train up the heart and mind. It contains two stories, "The White Lie" based on 1 John 1:8-9 and "The Pink Surprise" depicting the emotions of a soon to be big sister, Gigi, drawing on on Luke 10:21.
Both episodes include a very well scripted cartoon story, where Gigi is a typical young girl on the adventure called life. Yet, unlike today's modern cartoons, her parents are portrayed as both intelligent and approachable. They are present throughout each episode and engaged in Gigi's life, both as the voice of reason and the one compassionately communicating the Biblical principle at the end of voice of the story.
Gigi's Big Break was entertaining for my daughter while educating her heart -- and to be honest, her twin brother and two older sisters were equally captivated. It is most definitely a refreshing DVD to add to our collection -- a true blessing to hear the warm words and Biblical truths proclaimed at the conclusion of each video.
I have to say, I highly recommended purchasing a copy for your special little princesses. It would make a perfect Easter Basket gift as well!
With delight,
